Dear Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, Chi Lambda Lambda Chapter, On October 25, 2025, the Joliet Area/South Suburban Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated (JASSAC), is proud to host our annual Midwest Impact Day of Service (MIDS) event, with this year’s theme of Acts of Service. JASSAC is planning a multifaceted day dedicated to uplifting and supporting vulnerable populations through a combination of charitable drives, health and wellness activities, educational sessions, and community outreach. Acts of Service is about intentionally helping others, contributing to their well-being, and making a positive impact in your community. With this mission at heart, our event will feature:
● Charitable Drives: Collecting personal hygiene items for a domestic violence shelter, toiletries for a nursing home, products for a cancer center, and toys for a “Breakfast with Santa” program. These efforts will help meet essential needs across a wide range of community members.
● Health & Wellness Activities: Offering free cardio drumming, line dancing, and “bangout” workouts to promote cardiovascular health and encourage active lifestyles. Additionally, we are seeking to provide free haircuts and dental cleanings to improve personal well-being.
● Educational & Advocacy Sessions: Hosting mini sessions on domestic violence awareness, HIV & STD’s in the Southland, civil rights, including “Know Your Rights” mini sessions, and more. Together, all sessions are designed to empower attendees with critical knowledge and resources.
● Community Outreach: Going to locations to deliver services to benefit the most needy populations. Overall, the event aims to foster community engagement, promote health, and provide vital support and education—creating a holistic approach to community care and empowerment.
We believe that collaboration with like-minded organizations is key to maximizing our impact. As such, we warmly welcome the participation of your members in the event. Your presence will help amplify our efforts and demonstrate a united commitment to community service and empowerment. Specifically, we invite Omega Psi Phi, Chi Lambda Lambda Chapter, to: 1) Send members to actively participate in the event’s activities and volunteer efforts. 2) Consider making a charitable donation to support one or more of our charitable drives. Thank you for considering this collaboration. The location of the event will be coming shortly, along with the official flyer. We look forward to the opportunity to work together to make a meaningful impact on our communities.
In community partnership, Gwendolyn Buie
